The Evolution Of Art
The evolution of art is one of the most intriguing realities of mankind. If there is something that has persisted through every generation of man and woman, it is art. Art exists in various forms. There is art in painting, music, singing, literature and more recently in movies, visual graphics. At one stage, magic was also considered to be an art, which was after the truth had been revealed that magic is not the craft of a witch or a wizard and before it became obvious to everyone that it was only an illusion created with the help of meticulously planned tools and tricks.
The evolution of art, right from those prehistoric cave paintings to the modern day when special effects are the most important ingredient for any summer blockbuster, is huge and there are many phases to it. This entire evolution can be classified into various stages.
The first form of art was scribbling on walls, grounds, on trees and on rocks. These cannot be referred to as painting or images, writings or sculptures. There are some resemblances to modern day geometry in such scribbling but mostly they were not painting in its truest sense. Experts believe that this first form of art was a mere interpretation of what people saw around them. Very rarely was there anything that indicated imagination. It is interesting to note that the first form of art was void of imagination because creativity is at the crux of all forms of art. Some believe that the human brain was not as powerful as today that one could imagine.
Imagination crept into art forms when man started to find languages. Sculptures came in and civilizations learnt what construction was. It was this phase where art truly flourished. It existed in various forms. Language made writing a reality, although it was preceded by the language of images, and construction made sculptures and painting revolutionary.
Through the later ages, we find the more modern forms of art like music and colored images. It is difficult to look back and find the first true origin of music as there were simultaneous evolutions in many parts of the world and every civilization found some indigenous objects that could be played to produce sound.
Art as it stands today exists in all forms and future evolutions would only advance every art form. But at the core of it, art remains to be a mode to see beyond what is obvious, to realize what cannot be realized and to create a world that cannot be created.
