1946 was also the year that she signed her first ever movie contract. With her new project, she created a new image for herself by dying her hair blonde, and initiated the name Marilyn Monroe. It was in the 1950s that her career finally took off. In 1950, her role in the “Asphalt Jungle” by John Huston gained her the attention of the press. In the same year, she impressed the critics along with Bette Davis in “All about Eve”.

Until 1961, the films that Monroe starred in earned over $200 million in the box office. Before her sudden death, she was dismissed from her last film project due to many days of absences for filming. At the age of 36, she was found dead in her Los Angeles home on August 5, 1962. According to reports, an empty bottle of sleeping pills were found by her bed, ruling out any possibility of murder. After investigation, it has been declared that Monroe had died of a drug overdose. Although her life and career passed quickly, Monroe still remains to be popular as an iconic symbol of sex appeal and beauty.

In today’s showbiz industry, many companies and organizations have managed to maintain a collection of Marilyn Monroe prints for exhibits and auctions. Marilyn Monroe's Film Career
One of the most remarkable names in film industry, Marilyn Monrooe was born on June 1, 1926. She was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker. She spent his childhood in foster home due to mental instability of her mother. She was married to a defense worker named James E. Dougherty at an age of 16 whom she divorced in 1946 for being unsupportive toward her film career.

From her childhood, Monroe dreamt of becoming an actress. She got her first break in modeling career in 1946. She became one of the most successful Blue Book’s models due to which she got her break to a film with Twentieth Century Fox with six months contract. This is the time when her name was changed from Jeane Baker to Marilyn Monroe. Her initial roles were very short and no speaking roles. During this period she took training for singing, dancing and acting.

After finishing this contract she was not offered to continue, hence she returned to modeling career whilst she continued trying her luck in movies. She had many ups and downs in her film career until 1949 until she got break in a movie Love Happy. During 1949, she posed nude for a magazine which became a controversy during her success in 1952. He photograph was published in Playboy Magazine cover page. A Hollywood agent Johnny Hyde discovered her after this movie and fetched her many roles in notable films, which got het into limelight. Soon after that Johnny Hyde managed her seven years contract with 20th Century Fox. This was the breakthrough in her life. She was appreciated for her beauty and zeal. Movies in this duration posed her as a “dumb blonde”.

First Starring role of Monroe in movie was in 1952 “Don’t Bother to knock”. She was listed for Top ten money making star in 1953 and 1954. Monroe started becoming bored of the career path as a sex symbol. From 1952-1955 she was featured in many significant movies. There was a stint in 1955 when she considered quitting film industry and then Monroe started taking acting classes. Monroe received various nominations for her performances in various movies and she received a golden globe nomination and BAFTA nomination for her performance in “Bus Stop” and “The Prince and the Show girl” respectively. She won Golden Globe award in 1959 for her performance in “Some like it hot”. This movie is considered to be one of her best performances. She continued with versatile roles in various movies.

On 5th August 1962, at an age of 36 Monroe was found dead in her house at Los Angeles due to overdose of drugs. There are various controversies over her death as suicide or murder. During last years of her life she suffered from illness, personal problems. She was ranked as sixth greatest female star of all time in 1999. She married thrice in her lifetime and all ended in divorce. Marilyn Monroe a legend will be remembered for her courage, beauty and contribution to Hollywood.
