The Walt Disney Company never fails to induce happiness in all of us ever since it was founded in 1923. Thanks to the creativity of Disney’s founder Walter Elias Disney, everyone is enjoying incomparable entertainment and exceptional content and storytelling that would never fade and would never be forgotten.
Walt first arrived in the state of California with nothing but his dreams and his determined spirit. He was planning to sell his short film entitled “Alice’s Wonderland” to an interested distributor. ober 16, 1923 for the Alice comedies to be released. This is the day that the Walt Disney Company began. At first, it was not called the Walt Disney Company just yet. Walt and his brother Roy were partners in this dream of creating Disney prints and animations and so they called it the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. But his brother decided to change it to what it is called today.
Walt, along with his chief animator Ub Iwerks, designed a mouse animated character. Walt wanted to call it “Mortimer” but his wife decided on “Mickey”. This became so famous that Mickey Mouse became the official animated character that represented the Walt Disney Company. A series of Mickey Mouse cartoons followed all with different stories to tell.
Walt soon made more cartoon characters and each one became a sensation all throughout the world. Each year for a decade, a Walt Disney cartoon won an Academy award. The most famous was released in 1933. This was called “Three Little Pigs”. This sort of inspired a people to fight against the Great Depression.
Soon, the Disney Studios and its creations are gaining popularity and interests from people around the globe. Walt has agreed with certain businessmen to put Mickey Mouse and other cartoon characters he has created on notebooks, dolls, toothbrushes, and any merchandise that can be printed on. In 1930, the first ever Mickey Mouse book and Disney prints on newspaper, including comic strips, were released.
In 1934, Walt decided he wanted to create an animated film, the first of its kind, and that it would feature the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Some of the employees were skeptical because they thought it impossible to hold an audience’s attention for more than 8 minutes of animation. But they worked with Walt on it and after three years, it was completed. Disney prints of the movie was soon posted and people were excited to see what it was about. It was so successful that it garnered a record for being the highest grossing film of all time.
Walt and his staff had continued to make animated cartoons and films with unique stories and characters. Each one became a hit and each one endeared the hearts of everyone who watched it, whether those who are young or those who are young at heart. Walt Disney has created a world of fantasy and reality wherein all good things are taught. Up to this day, Disney has never failed to amaze and enchant people from across the globe.

Walter Elias, famously known as Walt Disney, was a well known American film producer, screen director, director, animator, entertainer, entrepreneur and an international icon. Born in 1901, the man had highly influenced the field of entertainment especially throughout the 20th century. He and Roy O. Disney, his brother, were the co-founders of the popular Walt Disney Productions.
Walter was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Elias Disney and Flora Disney. He had a sister and three more brothers. Later on in 1906, the family decided to move to Marceline, Missouri, to a farm. Since his early age, Walt Disney had developed interest in drawing. It was when Elias Disney could no longer look after the farm due to poor health that they again shifted to Kansas City. There at the age of 9 or 10, Walt along with his elder brother used to deliver their father’s newspapers as early as 4:30 in the morning. In 1910, Walt’s family moved to Chicago again. However, this time Walt stayed back and finished his schooling and worked for his brother Herb during summer. When the fall arrived, he returned to Chicago to his family and was admitted in McKinley High School. School was only interesting to him as long as he could create cartoons for the school’s newspapers. Other than that, nothing could make him curious enough.
In 1918, Walt Disney tried for the military services but his application was rejected because at that time he was merely 16 years old. Later on he became a part of the Red Cross through which he got an change to fly overseas. He spent more or less one year chauffeuring and driving an ambulance for Red Cross officials. After the war struck, Walt decided and came back to Kansas City. Since he had always had the flair to be an artist, he went on to pursue his dreams. It was due to his efforts that he created his first animated cartoons in 1920. He started learning a new method that combined animation and live action and which he referred to as “Laugh-o-Grams”. In 1923, while filming “Alice Comedies”, Walt was left with no money for which he had to sell his movie camera.
In the latter half of 1923, Walt left for Hollywood. He along with his brother Roy, who was already staying in California, managed to set up a shop. Few months later Disney Brothers Studios was formed and the rest as they say is history.
