The Wonderful History of Coffee
The wonderful aroma of coffee waking up in the morning. Having a stressful day or your just cold and need to warm up, feeling the warmth of a yummy cup of coffee. That can change your whole day and your attitude. Some people have a vice like cigarettes or alcohol, others it is coffee. Experts say caffeine is not good for you, but coffee is way less addictive and not as bad as the other two aforementioned. Have you ever heard of coffee making you need rehab and eventually killing you? Every body is different on how it reacts to what they eat or drink. So, to all those coffee lovers out there, here is a brief look going down memory lane with the history of coffee prints.
Here is a wonderful Arabian legend according to the history of coffee. We all love folklore and this one is quite interesting. Kaldi, an Arabian shepherd ran into his goats being joyful and dancing. Looking further, they were around a shrub that was leafy and dark green with vibrant red cherries. The location was on the Arabian Peninsula on the southern tip. Apparently the shepherd ate the berries to see what all the fuss was. He soon learned of the euphoric effect. Then, the monks used them for their many hours of power to stay awake. Apparently this is how coffee was born, by legendary folklore.
But in actually, the history of coffee apparently started in Ethiopia. On the plateaus coffee beans were discovered and soon transported to Yemen. Since that time, way back in the sixth century, in Mecca and Cairo, the first coffee prints houses were born. A stimulate was just not needed, these were for absolute pleasure.
The African origins of coffee had balls of animal fat and coffee that was protein rich. Consider it a modern day power bar for energy. They also relaxed with a pulp made from berries and coffee mixed together as a wine. But, soon following the history of coffee prints, it crossed the Red Sea.
Now, back to Arabia the history of coffee takes the next step. Roasted coffee beans and they were brewed way back to 1000 AD. Now, fast forward to the thirteen century, and coffee was the drink of Muslims. All over, worshipers would drink it just as religiously as praying. They basically would get a buzz off the caffeine, feel euphoric, and definitely stayed awake long periods of time.
The other places in history of coffee was India and the Mediterranean. But, there was a catch. Arabia made sure no one could have coffee! They made the beans infertile to grow. So, when the 1600's rolled around, someone named Baba Budan smuggled fertile seeds out of Arabia. Because of these seeds surviving, Europe would soon learn all about coffee in 1615 in Venice.
The next step in the history of coffee prints was the race of producing these wonderful coffee beans. The Dutch was the first in 1616 by actually stealing a plant. Finally in 1696, in modern day Indonesia, or Java, the very first coffee plantation was born.
So, as we all know the rest is history when it comes to coffee. Right now the number one country is Brazil that produces it. We all know about Starbucks and all the other wonderful coffee houses around the world. From different flavors of coffee, now healthy herbals, to wonderful creamer flavors and sugars. Do not forget about all the non-coffee lovers out there. They are being converted because of cold or iced coffees and are loving it as much as we love our hot coffee! Enjoy!
