Iconic actress Audrey Hepburn was born in Brussels, Belgium on May 4, 1929. Born to a wealthy English banker father and a Dutch baroness mother, the young Audrey Kathleen Ruston was raised in London after her parents divorced. Audrey attended a private girls’ school during her early years, and then attended private school in the Netherlands when her mother relocated the family. Audrey's first role was in the European film Dutch in Seven Lessons released in 1948. Three years later, the film Young Wives Tale featured Audrey as Eve Lester. Unsatisfied with such relatively small roles, the young Hepburn headed to America to try her luck in Hollywood. In 1953, Audrey became a star with her role in the film Roman Holiday. Audrey won a best actress Oscar for that role, and the film helped her gain the big roles she was looking for.
