Carl Valente is from Cleveland, Ohio where he was born in 1928. Valente revealed his natural artistic abilities from a very early age. At seventeen years old, he won a contest that was held for national art and earned a scholarship to the esteemed Cleveland Art Institute where he studied for several years. Carl’s creative ability became special interest for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner whereby he was asked to be a part of the newspaper as an artist, designer and illustrator for the Sunday color magazines. Carl stayed with the newspaper for twenty-two years where he worked on several color inserts such as TV Weekly and California Living. While doing this work, Carl Valente prints, posters and art were loved by millions of people from the Pacific Coast and the Southwest areas. In those times, he became intensely interested in murals and did paintings for private corporations and individuals, most of which were published in top magazines all over the United States.
As an American impressionist in the eighties, Carl used oil to recreate traditional timeless art, posters and prints of the peaceful countryside in America, in addition to English villages and cottages on British countryside. The landscapes that he created offered different seasons with varying colors.
As a result of popular demand, Carl Valente prints, art and posters was created as a series called Homes of the Americana in the nineties. This series consists of Victorian farmhouses, New England manors, Midwest villages on the lakes, colonials from the South and log homes from the West.
