Tattoo Art: Growing Acceptance
Tattoo art is becoming more and more popular. In the past it used to be a prerogative of men, but nowadays women find it to be quite attractive and use tattoos as lifetime accessories. There is a reason why we use the term “growing acceptance” bearing in mind the origin history of tattoos.
The tattoo has existed for ages. Hundreds of years ago tribal members used to tattoo their faces and bodies to show their appurtenance. The truth is that no matter how scattered or odd those tattoos may look, there is a meaning in every curve, dot and line.
Tattoo art has evolved greatly ever since then. Tattoo artists work with highly professional equipment and inks and create real masterpieces on any part of the body. One of the signs that skin art become accepted is that there are special contests, tattoo museums, galleries and educational courses. It is important to emphasize that being a tattoo artist is a profession and there are certain legislative rules by which it abides. The acceptance of a certain occupation is really confirmed when it is dressed in a legal form. This is the first step that society accepts something.
On the other hand we have to note that tattoo is not only with decorative purpose. For example permanent make-up is nothing but a very precise tattoo of lips and eyes. It makes you look elegant and modern and you don’t need to spend any money on make-up for a few months. The tattoo is also used for medical purposes for instance after breast reconstruction to add the color to the breast areola or to cover vitiligo spots (skin discoloration that cannot be treated).
Tattoos are usually made so that people can express their personal style and creed. A long time ago it was believed that only convicts had tattoos and that is why they were a taboo, but nowadays this type of art has become more sophisticated than just drawing a woman’s name on your chest.
Tattoo art is not a kitschy or tasteless whim. It is already a whole trend in fashion and people are not afraid to show their bodies covered with artistic drawings. People find it more amusing to observe tattoo fans, rather than ignoring them and treating them like freaks. The more society becomes open-minded about skin art, the more people can see the real beauty and meaning of tattoos.
