Best Movies of 2001
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
I've said it before, The Lord of the Rings movies are perfection, and The Fellowship of the Ring is no exception. The vision and world Peter Jackson created is simply amazing to watch.
Ocean's Eleven
The first in the series (but not the original) boasts an all star cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon. A great heist movie with the smoothest characters on the planet.
A Beautiful Mind
One of Russell Crowe's finest performances. A true story based on the life of John Forbes Nash, Jr. Such an intriguing story and the way Ron Howard directs and presents it to the screen is amazing. The twist half way through the movie is almost jarring.
Black Hawk Down
A brilliant war movie that shows the true horrors of combat, a must see from a historical standpoint.
Training Day
How great is Denzel Washington? His performance in Training Day is at the top of my list of all time get performances. The ultimate bad ass, and doesn't break character for a second. Ethan Hawke also gives a top notch performance.
Bridget Jones's Diary
A great adaptation of the book by Helen Fielding. When watching this movie it's hard to believe Renée Zellwege is anyone but Bridget Jones.
The Royal Tenenbaums
A fun and strange story highlighted by a brilliant cast, Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller, and Gwyneth Paltrow. A family of geniuses can have rough times too.
