Best Movies of 2007
300
Although 300 was liked but not loved by the critics I think it is an amazing movie. The format of the movie was groundbreaking and something that has not been seen before. Although the story was a little hard to swallow, it wasn't any less entertaining because of it.
Knocked Up
Seth Rogen is definitely on his A-game in this movie, like he always is. The casting is great, Katherine Heigl makes the perfect knocked up one night stand and the interaction with Rogen and Paul Rudd is hilarious. One of those perfect date movies (only not a first date movie).
The Darjeeling Limited
A great movie about the relationship that brothers are lucky to have. This one stuck with my because I have three boys of my own, and think they are so lucky to have each other.
Gone, Baby, Gone
Casey Affleck is now one of those actors when he has a new movie I will go see just because he is in it. I thought he was brilliant in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and is equally good in Gone, Baby, Gone. This movie was also directed by Ben Affleck showing this family is going to be a future (and present) Hollywood powerhouse. This is a great story with a wicked ending where Affleck's character has to make an impossible decision.
No Country for Old Men
A 2007 movie list would not be complete without No Country for Old Men. A strange and twisting story that could have only come from the genius Coen brothers. Jarring and mesmerizing, the movie will leave you speechless.
There Will Be Blood
Daniel Day-Lewis is in my top five favorite actors of all time, and may be number one. I've seen all his movies several times (except Nine) with my favorite being Gangs of New York. He is so versatile and talented that I'm sure he is an inspiration to most actors in Hollywood. This movie's story was not really that special, but the mood and tension that PT Anderson creates is something you can cut with a dinner knife. That combined with the acting of Day-Lewis made this one a treat.
