Custom Framing Options for Art Prints
The traditional way to turn your art print into a piece of art hanging on your wall is to custom frame it. There are many different options to use when deciding on your custom framing. Also it can be expensive so it is very important to get it right the first time. I have known many customers who order an item custom framed, get it home and end up not liking on their wall for one reason or another. Use this guide so that won't happen to you.
Of course the first thing you want to decide on is your frame. Frames usually are either wood (or wood composite) or metal. Wood frames provide a much richer feel to your print and I would suggest a wood frame for most art prints. Metal frames are a good less expensive way to frame those cheaper poster items like movie posters and celebrity posters. So now that you have decided on the material of your frame the color is next. The color of the frame should compliment the art print in some way. But you are pretty safe if you are using black, silver or brown for your color.
The next thing to decide on is matting. The mat(s) will add a classic feel to your art print and in most cases is worth the extra money. You can have one to three mats, I would suggest going for at least two mats as the two together with contrasting colors can add a lot to your art. The color of the matting should either loosely match the same color of some part of the print, or it should contrast it, but keep the same color range.
