Living in an apartment does not mean you can't add decor and make it a space you are proud of. Even in a small space there are some things you can do to make it feel roomy and to make it yours. Here are a few tips to make that apartment feel like yours.
Just because you are not going to be there forever doesn't mean you can't make changes. Many people are hesitant about making changes for two reason, they're not sure how long they'll be there, and they're unsure of what changes the landlord will allow. So, the first tip is to make some plans, like painting and hanging wall decor, then ask the landlord if it is allowed, you'll be surprised by their answer most of the time.
Be sure to decorate your walls. Art prints, rugs, drapes and mirrors are some ideas to add color and texture to your walls. Texture will make your space fell more expansive, but will also make it feel more like home.
A great way to visually expand the space is with interesting uses of lights. Many lamps in one room can obviously brighten the space, but will also create a warm glow.
Although that big fluffy couch is very comfortable, you may want to trade it in for a slim love seat. Keeping your furnture scaled down to suite your space will keep things from looking over stuffed and provide a little more walking room.
Add a rug! Even if you have carpet in your apartment, adding a light colored rug will open up your room.
